About Us

Who Are We?

We are a Non-Profit 501c(3) Free Clinic located in Franklin, North Carolina. We have been serving the citizens Ages 16 & Up who reside in Macon County as well as the citizens of surrounding counties who are not able to afford healthcare elsewhere since 2010. Many of our patients are seen for supervision of chronic diseases such as diabetes. Through the clinic, patients can obtain care through medical supervision, lab testing/results, testing supplies, and medications including insulin. If not for our clinic, many of these community members would have no source of care and would be at risk for complications of their disease including hospitalization and possible death. Our free clinic serving low income and uninsured residents of Macon County is funded entirely by grants and donations.

Medication Assistance Program

Your health matters to us, We understand how expensive medications can be, and we are here to help. The Community Care Clinic of Franklin can
help obtain necessary medication at little or no-cost to qualifying patients. This program is designed to get the medications you need, but we need you to do your part as well by registering before the prescriptions can be filled.

How things started.........

The Beginning.....

In 2010, the Community Care Clinic of Franklin became an independent clinic, separating from the Community Care Clinic of Highlands-Cashiers. This decision was made with the aim of providing better service to the underserved community of Franklin, as well as the rest of Macon County and surrounding counties. When the clinic was initially established, it was only able to see patients on Monday evenings and was located within the Macon County Health Department.

In 2011, the Community Care Clinic of Franklin was officially incorporated as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Healthcare Organization.

2016

In 2016, the Community Care Clinic of Franklin announced a new Executive Director. Also, as demand for their services grew, the clinic expanded its hours and began accepting patients on Wednesday evenings as well, in addition to Monday evenings, providing more opportunities for patients to receive care.

2020

In 2020, Despite the limitations and restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Care Clinic of Franklin remained committed to assisting the underserved community. In order to maintain the quality care they provide, the Clinic transitioned to Telehealth Services. Additionally, the clinic expanded its physical space in the Macon County Health Department by constructing two offices - one for the Executive Director and another for the Medication Assistance Program, including a clinic check-in/check-out window.

2021

In July and August 2021, the Clinic added two new Medical Providers, a Medical Assistant, a new Medication Assistant Program Coordinator, and in December, Cindy O'Boyle joined as the new Executive Director. During this time, the Clinic still only provided services through Telehealth.

2022

In 2022, after nearly two years of Telehealth services, the Clinic transitioned back into seeing patients in-person. They also welcomed an additional Medical Provider, and started offering a clinic on Friday mornings.

2023

In 2023, the Clinic expanded its office hours and launched another day clinic on Tuesday mornings. Additionally, the Clinic added two new volunteers and another Spanish interpreter. Also, after six years without holding a fundraiser, the Clinic successfully organized its First Annual Tastes Good! Sounds Good! Fundraiser, raising a total of $10,000 to support the clinic.
